Cardi B is looking to take on a vegan diet and hopes her fans can help her along the way. Following stomach health complications, the Grammy Award-winning rapper tweeted that she wanted to cut meat out of her diet, but finds it difficult to find the best alternative. “I want to go vegan but I love meat,” Cardi B tweeted. “Are vegan meat replacements similar to meat in taste or not really?”

Her fans and leading vegan companies came to the rescue, suggesting plant-based alternatives that would improve her health. Plant-based giants including Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat responded to Cardi B’s tweet after tons of fans pointed to the iconic plant-based proteins. Following the immense number of suggestions, the celebrity responded with another tweet about her motivation behind dropping meat and dairy.

“I had a stomach virus not so long ago and I feel like my digestive system haven’t [sic] been the same,” Cardi B tweeted. “I been [sic] drinking probiotics and I don’t see a change much. I be lookin [sic] at raw food pages a lot  but that will be a huge change for me to do that.”

While Cardi B revealed that she wanted to improve her health, the tweet sparked a debate between vegan and non-vegan eaters. Some people argued against plant-based meat as a healthier alternative whereas others enthusiastically encouraged the star to drop meat and try plant-based alternatives.

Some people argued against Cardi B’s plant-based journal, but research indicates that her vegan diet could help curb some of her health concerns. A recent study from Nature Metabolism found that switching to plant-based foods can improve gut health and help lead to a longer life in contrast to animal-based foods. The study analyzed 9,000 people’s microbiomes in relation to their diets, concluding that a plant-based diet is more likely to improve gut health and “good” bacteria within the microbiome.

The superstar’s vegan journey can be easier than many people think. A study published in Foods found that people only need to swap five meals for plant-based alternatives a week to improve gut bacteria. By introducing some plant-based foods into meat-heavy diets, people can see surprisingly positive effects in only four weeks. The study shows that for flexitarian or plant-curious consumers like Cardi B, plant-based eating can be more accessible and less intimidating.

Cardi B’s interest in vegan foods is nothing new: The celebrity recently launched a dairy-free, vodka-infused beverage ahead of the holiday season. Whipshots, created in partnership with Starco Brands, launched a line of vegan whipped cream-based shooters for the holiday season. The shelf-stable holiday shots will be available in three flavors including Vanilla, Caramel, and Mocha, and three sizes including 50ml, 200ml, and 375ml.

“Whipshots is poised to change the market and give consumers something new, exciting, and delicious in the alcohol sector,” Starco Brands CEO Ross Sklar said in a statement. “By partnering with Cardi, we are creating a party in a can—bringing to life a juxtaposition of luxury and fun in a groundbreaking product with unmatched taste. This is a huge moment for Starco Brands, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience Whipshots.”

The star revealed the first selection of the vegan shots in early December, and the Whipshot bottles sold out within minutes. The company and Cardi B announced that there will be more Whipshots available every day in December. The celebrity’s website also features several recipes that feature the Whipshots including her Naughty or Nice recipes calling for Heering Cherry Pink Liqueur, lemon juice, Aztec chocolate bitters, and cognac.

“I’m so excited to join Starco Brands with this incredible opportunity,” Cardi B said in a statement. “Whipshots matches my style—over the top, sexy, unique. Together we’re completely innovating whipped cream and giving it an extra pop. Whipshots is Cardi in a can.”
